People are not illegal; behavior is -- and being in this country without permission is illegal behavior. Peoples' amygdala are on fire because this is an emotional (not rational) issue; calm down and look at the facts.

Being in the United States without documentation is illegal in the same way that building a shed too close to your property line is illegal. It isn't even a crime but rather a civil offense. The only reason we allow the government to terrorize undocumented immigrants and not undocumented backyard shed builders is xenophobia. Some people are so scared of "the other" that they are happily trampling out constitution to terrorize immigrants.

If you are freaking out that an immigrant came to America without the right paperwork, all I can say is grow up and get a life. There are other issues in this world that are way more important. And most the basic civil liberties laid out in the constitution protect ALL people not just citizens.
