Local journalism needs your support

Be a News-Register Community Partner.
Civic and community journalism is the backbone of a well-informed, connected Yamhill County — but it comes at a cost.
Rising costs and reduced advertising revenue make it impossible to continue our civic journalism at current levels withour added support from local readers and businesses.
Since 2005, a third of America's print newspapers — more than 3,300 — have closed. Many more have joined large newspaper chains. But here in Yamhill County, the News-Register has remained fiercely independent, family-owned, and committed to our community since 1928.
There are many ways to stand with local journalism. Whether you are a loyal reader, local business or institution, or a concerned citizen who believes in the value of civic journalism, when you support the News-Register you are investing in a stronger Yamhill County..
Please click through our Community Partner program icons below to find the best ways to support and help sustain local journalism. All funds donated through OPIP will be used exclusively for staffing of civic journalism activities.

From the Owners:
As 3rd and 4th generation of a 97-year family business, we recognize the dichotomy of this “SupportNR” campaign in a private economy driven by consumer choices. We also recognize these realities:
• The traditional business model for newspapers is broken.
• The civic/social/cultural value of a strong, independent community newspaper is higher than ever.
• We have this opportunity to inspire new community synergy in support of the newspaper and each other.
Thus, our four-part campaign: Subscribe; Press Club; Business Partner; Donate.
• All funds from Press Club memberships and Donations through OPIP will directly support N-R Civic Journalism.
• Please openly support the Business Partners in our Partners directory.
It’s been a four-generation honor to oversee this quasi-public institution.
