Rep. Ron Noble, a former McMinnville Police chief, has earned a third term representing Oregon House District 24. After midnight returns, he held a 57.79% to 42.03% lead over challenger Lynnette Shaw, a local business owner from Carlton who ran on the Democratic and Working Families ticket.

Also headed to State House victories are Rep. Mike Nearman in the 23rd District -- with 57.92% of the vote in a four-way race -- and Rep. Bill Post in the 25th District, fending off Democrat Ramiro Navarro Jr., 56.14% to 43.71%.

State Senator Brian Boquist, a Republican from Dallas, had 58.08% of the vote compared to challenger Bernadette Hansen's 41.78% in 1:49 a.m. returns for the Senate 12th District.

Only in Oregon can a state with obvious political leanings to the left, can they vote for those that are on the entirely other end of the spectrum.

I well remember those days of long ago when the liberal state of Oregon had two of the most famous Republican US Senators: Hatfield and Packwood. Why? Because Oregonians elect (usually) the best candidate for the job. That has happened again and of the three candidates highlighted in this article, I believe that Ron Noble is definitely the man for the job for now.

So congrats to these three misplaced politicians and their victories in the recent election cycle!
