County sets new one-day record for COVID-19 cases

On Thursday, the county reported 35 new cases, bringing the county’s total to 2,068 to date, and 20 deaths, to date.

“I am saddened by any death and my heart goes out to the families. I urge people to be safe and thoughtful about protecting our most vulnerable,” County Health and Human Services Director Lindsey Manfrin said.

Manfrin said that the state Oregon Health Authority had accidentally reported the death of a 78-year-old man at Willamette Valley Medical Center on Nov. 20 twice, instead of the death of a second 78-year-old man, who tested positive on Nov. 14 and died Nov. 26 at his home. The OHA corrected the report on Wednesday.

The OHA reported 1,586 new cases on Thursday, and 13 deaths, bringing the state to 1,123 deaths and 89,838 cases to date.
