I probably bought my first rifle from Buck in 1958-9

In the 50s there weren't too many outlets that carried sporting goods (Gunness and Peterson downtown was the only other shop). My friends and I were regular customers for fishing gear and ammo.
A side note on Jay -- he was one of the most affable people I have ever known -- always a friendly, casual greeting -- umpiring baseball and softball games without raising arguments from anyone --and his gentle demeanor and outgoing personality made him the most entertaining traffic flagger ever. A very special guy!

Thank you Starla for sharing his story. I've always wondered about Bucks and now I know. Love the history! I have a chair to be recovered I know just where to take it.
