Mayor Hill seems like a nice man but unfortunately he wasn't very effective or pro active during the pandemic and subsequent protests. We needed a leader in office. Thankfully Ms. Parker stepped up and took control.

Lulu

Lots of luck to her because she'll need it after her reactionary, tone-deaf attitude.

GRM

Good to have a choice now.

Rotwang

Lulu, please explain.

I thought Council President Menke was going to retire from the Council. News-Register do you have any info on her reason for once again running?

The position of Mayor of McMinnville is a serious issue that we will be forced to make a decision on soon enough. I am glad that Mayor Hill has volunteered another term of service and I suspect that there will be more qualified candidates added to the ticket. I look forward to the election and trust that Mac will make the right decision. There is no need for reactionists to apply, as Mac needs leadership and not wannabes....

GRM a choice is always good. The one discouraging
because last election McMinnville gave almost 2,000 votes to a known registered sex offender Jared Miller this shows a real disconnect with some voters.

I do like what Ms.Parker has been doing for almost four years by cleaning up the streets, homeless camps and graffiti all over town none of the elected officials paid to do some of that stuff actually did it.

Lulu

Maybe she could pull the ugly weeds outside the post office.
And Menke should have left years ago.

GRM

What I really dislike when elections are coming up : All these letters and blogs in the NR telling us that someone knows someone who knows another person who knows the candidate. And of course this candidate is so good because he/she is such a good friend, neighbor or whatever. Simply boring. I make my decisions by facts and not emotional blogs. A different story is if a candidate makes a personal statement.

McMinnville cannot afford Ms. Parker and her knee jerk fanaticism.

Just Curious

While I see what Heidi Parker has done for the community with the cleanups (however very controversial) and volunteering for local charity events, she is most simply not qualified to be an elected official.
To my knowledge she has not volunteered for any open seat on any official city or county committee that would give her knowledge of the way a local municipality runs. As we face tough times ahead, we should be thinking of people who know the ins and outs of local government so they may guide us through our economic recovery.
Heidi seems to be temperamental and reactionary through her Take Back Mac and AIM posts over the past year. This behavior could end up being at the very least embarrassing or lead to a lawsuit against the city itself, our city and the tax payers surely cannot afford this.
Heidi’s political ideals seem to sway with the wind. I am just going to mention a few instances that struck me as particularly odd.
1. Through the lock down during COVID she proclaimed to be PRO support local business, and yet wanted some businesses to shut down. One of which was Dutch Bros “coffee is not a necessity” and they weren’t following the “rules”, see #3.
2. At one point she was demanding city and county action against a couple of property owners because of unsightly properties. One here in the city and one in the county, and yet she came out most recently, against the city council discussion of changes to the 8.10.250 Health & Safety-Motor Vehicle and 8.10.035-Health & Safety Storage which would give them more legal authority to act on such complaints.
3. There is also the instance while in lock down she had posted pictures on April 30th in AIM of herself, her family and friends disobeying the governor’s mandate, without masks and six foot distancing. While just a week earlier she was demanding that everyone “stay home”.

Just Curious

Scott Hill has my vote and I encourage everyone to look at his long history of community service; his knowledge of local, state and federal issues, laws and mandates; and his kind and considerate temperament. No one can throw mud on this man, as he is always been a good citizen who has many years of volunteering locally, and treats everyone with the greatest of respect.
