Mad in McMinnville
I’m mad. Mad as hell.
Today we learned that the murderer of Laken Riley was found guilty and sentenced to life in prison without parole. He should have been executed.
I, for one, lay this crime at the feet of Joe Biden, Kamala Harris and, worst of all, Homeland Security Director Alejandro Mayorkas.
All three of these corrupt individuals lied to the America people for three-plus years, claiming the border was secure while knowing full well it wasn’t. As a result, Laken Riley, Jocelyn Nungaray, Rachel Morin and others paid the price.
It doesn’t stop there, either:
- Since the Supreme Court’s 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling, 43 million unborn babies have been aborted. A new ruling has left it to individual states to manage this issue, but Democrats are still trying to codify Roe v. Wade into law in order to continue their fixation with abortion.
- We have several Democratic governors threatening to disrupt Trump’s deportation agenda by concealing illegal migrants from arrest — in direct violation of federal law.
- Biden has given Ukraine permission to strike the interior of Russia with long-range American missiles. How stupid is that?
If you poke the bear often enough, it will respond. And the results will be catastrophic — maybe even World War III.
To complete this trifecta, we come to corruption.
Anybody with a brain can see the corruption of the FBI, DOJ, HHS and IRS, but the judiciary is worse — much worse. You need only visit YouTube to see judicial dingbats in action.
If you want an education, search for videos of Kennedy, Hawley or Cruz interviewing appointees coming before the Senate Judiciary Committee. They include Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, who can’t see to explain what makes someone a woman.

Hmm….Mr Long, You realize illegal immigration has been going on for decades right?…. Did you forget that the president-elect torpedoed a bi partisan bill that would have added hundreds of additional border agents… no responsibility for him or others in congress that voted against the bill?
Honestly, I find it hard to take seriously your argument against abortion when you begin your tirade by demanding the execution of inmates. Your Flexible moral outrage is curious.

Well now Mr. Long – this is not the first time you have published your assertion that folks who do not share your bizarre myopic non-factual views do not have a brain. It must be frustrating for you to remain unrecognized for your self-proclaimed superior intellect? (Just FYI, your insults and convoluted logic are not persuasive.)

So sorry you are so angry Bob! It may come as a shock to you but, both Kansas & Missouri just recently codified abortions rights and neither one can possibly be considered run by Democrats. Seems a lot of your Republican friends have different ideas than you. Your last letter to the editor (Oct 11) was telling us about the Democrats controlling weather! Maybe some different, new meds would help you.

On January 19, 2021, Trump signed an Executive Order allowing undocumented Venezuelans to remain in the United States without deportation (for 18 months from the date of his E.O.). The Venezuelan man who killed Laken Riley entered the U.S on September 8, 2022, 8 months after Trump signed his E.O. There's plenty of fault to go around when it comes to U.S. immigration policy. Furthermore, if you truly think conservative women haven't been availing themselves of the opportunity to abort unwanted pregnancies, since 1973 and long before, then I'm afraid that's a problem to be addressed by a medical/psychological professional.

I've heard knitting is peaceful, or even staring at fish in an aquarium, zoning in on a Lava lamp, or hiking to a waterfall, or maybe just drive to the coast and stare at the waves rolling in....along with 50mg of Zoloft

Legislative action to close the border was never needed. It was opened by Joe Biden via executive order (actually around 30 of them) when he entered office and it could at any time be closed via the same method. Legislation was and is a red herring.

Robert Long, it’s really difficult to take your words seriously when your fact checking is non existent. “Anybody with a brain” can see you haven’t the slightest idea of the factual goings on in our government. You see through cherry picked versions of GOP lies and don’t even hold him accountable for anything. It’s sad really, because unfortunately there are too many who follow your train of thought without ever looking honestly, at the facts and really don’t care to.

The border isn’t and never has been “closed”.
As long as American business continues to need labor, and the government visa programs can’t (or won’t) meet the labor demand of the country, illegal immigration will continue. You mentioned red herrings….and one of the biggest is the idea that a wall will be a substitute for comprehensive immigration reform. Congress has done nothing substantial since 1987, so there is plenty of blame to go around, and until congress acts, the border crossings will continue & the game of whack- a-mole will continue.

It has also never been purposely 'opened' in such a strikingly reckless manner. Current undocumented immigration is running at multiples of the approximately one million per year allowed legally. We don't really know, but since Biden took office, the total is somewhere around fifteen million. Undocumented also means unvetted and since around half a million per year are 'gotta ways' potential security risks are mind blowing. And then there are those never seen at all.
From a congressional report "In FY23, CBP recorded more than 2.4 million encounters at the Southwest border and more than 3.2 million encounters nationwide. Just this fiscal year, 169 individuals on the terrorist watchlist were apprehended attempting to enter the country illegally, and at least 1.7 million known gotaways have evaded apprehension since FY2021."
I do strongly agree that legal immigration should have been increased years ago versus the chaos we currently have. The labor mismatch of who has entered undocumented under Biden versus what the economy can handle (70% male and 50% without a high school education) has resigned the lower labor class in our country to decades of depressed wages. I am not aware of any study that has even remotely factored in this massive an influx.

I’m glad you included the point that we don’t really know the actual or accuracy of the numbers. Encounters are somewhat firm, but the “got away” number is pretty sketchy and is likely inflated by counting (or estimating) the same people multiple times. Data, as always, can be skewed to conform with the agenda, but blaming any single person for the problem is just political rhetoric.
Another contributing factor that influences border crossings is the increased poverty & unrest in south and Central America. The vast majority of those attempting to enter are not criminals….just people trying to escape from the poverty & violence in their home country.

> political rhetoric? Joe Biden campaigned on letting illegal aliens in and then ended Trump's Remain in Mexico policy while signing dozens of other executive orders taking the undocumented influx to unprecedented levels. While we may not know the number to the exact digit, the enormous scale is obvious.
Here is the scary part. I wondered why we haven't seen a large-scale terrorist attack(s) as of yet and then it hit me. If they are getting more of their people in doing something that closes the border (relatively) isn't logical. With things sealing back up that incentive disappears and with it the respective restraint.
