Council to hear about downtown policing

The McMinnville city council will hear a presentation from Police Chief Matt Scales about policing in downtown during its 7 p.m. Tuesday meeting at Civic Hall.

The presentation is part of a review of policing in the downtown as summer approaches which has historically seen an increase in problems. The past two summers, the city has employed park rangers to patrol the downtown as an added presence.

The council will also consider a fee schedule for fire department fees. The city does not currently assess such fees.

The council meets for dinner at 6 p.m. before its formal meeting at 7 p.m. Both are open to the public.
