Paper Gardens entries due in a month

Entries are due by March 1 for the annual Paper Gardens creative writing contest.

Yamhill County children 6 to 12, youths 13 to 17 and adults can enter poetry or prose. Entry fee is $10 for adults and free to children and youths.

Prose can be entered in two categories, short story and “creative nonfiction.” One entry per person is allowed.

Up to three poems per person can be entered in each of four categories: traditional, free verse, haiku and poetry of place. The latter category is for poems about or inspired by features of Yamhill County.

The Arts Alliance of Yamhill County sponsors the annual competition. Submissions will be judged, and awards presented to the top three winners in each category at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 5, in the McMinnville Community Center.
