Dragons roast Western Mennonite

LINCOLN - Though the Dragons streak of four shutout games in a row ended with a first-half PK, Delphian's boys soccer team had all the offense they needed to beat Western Mennonite 4-1 on Tuesday to stay locked in a tie at the top of 3A/2A/1A Special District 2.

Pablo Garza found the net for Delphian within the first 20 minutes, but just before the intermission, Wyatt Roth sunk one from the penalty mark to equalize after a Pioneers breakaway ended in a close-in foul. After halftime, Roth missed a second PK wide left while Nick Koenig tallied two goals, Colin Koenig grabbed one and Garza lined up a clean shot at another only to see it rebound fiercly off the crossbar.

Western (2-8-2, 2-7-2 SD2) closes out their season against Salem Academy at 4:15 p.m. in Salem. Delphian (10-2-2, 9-1-1 SD2), locked in a tie for first in the league, will host Taft at 4:15 p.m. on Friday to conclude their regular season.
