Enough. Let's just put this on a special ballot and let the voters decide what should be done since county leadership is incapable.

Well, this is strike no real surprise. I have seen similar breakdowns between employees and leadership in organizations before, during my time working as a non-profit leader with three very different organizations. And also working in the corporate world. Conflict of this type is primarily linked to the leadership of the organization.

A phrase I was taught by a friend who worked as janitorial staff applies well here. "The employees become like the bosses". That is, if the boss is hostile, self-serving and untrustworthy the employees act similarly in order to survive. If the boss is open, considerate of others and trustworthy the employees will be encouraged and emulate them.

Pay and benefits issues are manageable and negotiable between parties that trust each other. without trust no offer will be acceptable. In labor breakdowns, look directly at the leadership to see the main cause. Blaming outsiders, economics and the employees is never the answer.

Like Harry S. Truman said "The Buck Stops Here". The County leadership needs to accept the negative results of their own behavior and leadership style. Then learn from there mistakes, humble themselves, and try to rebuild trust.

Whether it is too late to rebuild trust or not, I cannot say. But, the only other option to repair labor leadership relations will be to completely change out the leadership. If so, the the comment by Otis may be the way to move on.
