I find it strange that the December 19, 2018 violation date coincides with the biggest flood event on the least amount of rain in flooding history for the Baker Creek Road area (2" of overnight rain). Why did they release it? Was it overflowing? Has there been a permanent solution to excess water situations implemented? Are we going to continue to see DEQ violations and contamination when more flooding events happen? Do we get to look forward to the same thing happening on the other side of Baker Creek Road when the new developments go in?

Maybe an updated FEMA map would have prevented the contamination before it happened. Maybe not, but it's certainly worth finding out for sure.

I am happy to see that the DEQ is staying on top of the developers. It gives me hope that the city doesn't have the final say and maybe the builders of the newly approved development on the other side of Baker Creek Road see the fines coming in and give pause to their own plans.

Maybe continued hefty fines are the only language that gets through.
