McMinnville resident killed in Marion County crash

A McMinnville man was killed in a two-vehicle crash Sunday morning on McKay Road NE, east of French Prairie Road, in northern Marion County.

The Marion County Sheriff's Office identified the victim as Anthony Eric Skibba, 22.

Law enforcement and medical personnel responded to the location shortly before 10:30 a.m. Based on a preliminary investigation by the Marion County Multi-Agency Traffic Team, Skibba was driving a Ford Focus eastbound on McKay Road when he crossed the centerline and collided with a Toyota Tacoma pickup driven by Carmelo Rodriguez, 62, of Colorado.

Skibba was pronounced dead at the scene. Rodriguez was transported to an area hospital.

That road has seen a lot of deaths over the years. Avoid it if you can. And if you can't, slow the heck down.

I never understood why. It has long stretches of straight, live road, a few gentle curves, and good visibility. Impatient and inept drivers are its worst feature.

I drive it every day, twice a day. One day when it was SUPER foggy, the car in front of me, went to pass a semi truck in front of them, they were in the oncoming lane, a car was coming, so they had to swerve to the OTHER side of the road, then came back to the lane of on coming traffic, and got back in front of me. I just thought for SURE I was going to witness a horrific scene. I pulled way back so no debris would hit me, THANKFULLY there was no accident. That person drove 'normal' after that, in those road conditions. They probably need a change of underwear as well!!

Stupid autocorrect changed level to live.

I drove that way on saturday and saw that it is now a Safety Corridor. Best decision ever! Fines Double and headlights are required.

So - if autocorrect is "stupid," how is failure to proof-read defined?

(Just a rhetorical question, no response necessary.)
