NEWBERG - A Hillsboro woman was killed Wednesday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash north of Newberg in the 19000 block of Bald Peak Road.

Betty C. Jones, 80, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Yamhill County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies gave this account of the 1:20 p.m. crash:

Jones was driving a 2003 Mercury Sable. Her car left the road, went into a ditch and hit a tree. She was the lone occupant.
