Sheridan board extends superintendent's contract

SHERIDAN — The Sheridan School Board Wednesday night approved a two-year contract extension for Superintendent Steve Sugg at an annual salary of $109,315.

Sugg has guided the Sheridan district for two years. He succeeded A.J. Grauer, who was superintendent for five years after spending six years as a teacher and five years as the high school principal.

Sugg taught math at Jordan Valley High School in Eastern Oregon, then at Dayton High, before being named assistant principal at Philomath High in Benton County.

He went on to the Sherwood School District, where he has served in several administrative positions, the most recent being assessment and accountability coordinator. Sugg spent 10 years with the district.

In addition to extending Sugg’s contract, the board also approved step raises for other administrative positions. They are occupied by High School Principal Dean Rech, $90,534; first-year Faulconer-Chapman Principal David Kline, $87,018; Special Programs Director Marti Hofenbredl, $84,061, and Faulconer-Chapman Vice-Principal Kari Sanders, $79.213.

In other business, the board adopted a $10,672,375 general fund budget for the 2015-16 fiscal year. A homeowner will pay $4.79 per $1,000 of assessed valuation.

The board will meet next at 6 p.m.Wednesday, July 15.
