Amity’s Hinkle, Romey step down

Amity will have new coaches in two sports for the fall of 2014.

Warriors football coach Jared Hinkle has turned in his resignation, Amity Athletic Director Angie Albus confirmed to the News-Register. Additionally, Warriors volleyball coach Kimi Romey has resigned as head coach but intends to stay with the program in a different capacity.

Neither Hinkle nor Romey returned messages seeking comment.

Hinkle, a former Linfield College offensive lineman and assistant coach, led the Warriors to a 3-5 record (2-4 Class 3A West Valley League) in his only season atop the football program.

Romey has been with Amity volleyball for six seasons, compiling a 53-72 record (31-51 WVL). The Warriors made the Class 3A state playoffs in each of the past two seasons but lost in the first round.
