author Gale Ontko of Prineville wrote five volumes of "Fire Over the Ochoco. According to him Oregon was a slave state before the white man arrived. Modocs sold Paiutes at rendezvous in two markets, Celilo Falls and Willamette Falls. one slave for a horse or three blankets.
