Man found dead in Lower City Park
[Updated 4/9/25]
McMinnville Police are still investigating the death of a local transient man who was found dead Friday morning in Lower City Park.
“Our detective section is currently working the case to identify if there were any crimes committed,” Mac Police Captain Tim Symons told the News-Register. Police are also awaiting results of an autopsy.
Police responded to the scene around 7 a.m. Friday, April 4, and found Kyle Milburn, 36, of McMinnville, deceased. The park was closed to the public into the afternoon as investigators surveyed the scene, with assistance from the Yamhill County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Team.
“We utilized their services to make sure we were covering the area as appropriately as possible while looking for evidence related to the investigation,” Symons said.
Milburn’s body was found in the middle of the park, where the paved walkway from the covered area intersects with the main paved walking path. Symons said there were two callers to 911, and there was no indication they knew the deceased.
“There is still no known information at this time to indicate any danger to the general public,” Mac Police stated Friday afternoon. “This is an ongoing investigation and we encourage anyone that may have relevant information ... to please contact the MacPD Tip Line at 503-434-2337 and reference case 25MP1014.”
Court records show that Milburn was released from the Yamhill County Jail on Wednesday, April 2, following a 12-day stay for a probation violation connected with a Feb. 19 possession of methamphetamine conviction.

leo: I’ve been fortunate to live in many areas of the country.
McMinnville’s parks are the safest I’ve seen.

What about an ordinance decreeing no one can die in Lower City Park? It would act much like a deterrence.
