What a treasure to so many. My favorite book, as a child, was ‘The Mouse and the Motorcycle.’ Later, my favorite was Walt Morey’s ‘Kavik the Wolf Dog.’ Walt Morey visited Newby Elementary when I was in the fourth grade (1966 or ‘67), and I got his autograph on my copy of ‘Gentle Ben.’ What I wouldn’t give for Cleary’s autograph on ‘The Mouse and the Motorcycle.’ RIP, Beverly.

One of the joys of being a narrator for books on tape (a long time ago) was getting to apply my voice to books by people like Beverly Cleary. We are forever indebted to her for sharing her imagination and passion with all of us.
