Brosius wins Oregon Sports Award

McMinnville senior David Brosius claimed an Oregon Sports Award Thursday evening when he received the Prep Baseball Player of the Year award. The Oregon Sports Awards ceremony was held at the Stanford Theatre in the Tiger Woods Center at Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton.

Brosius, the Class 6A Greater Valley Conference Pitcher of the Year, won the award over Tualatin's Jacob Bennett and Sheldon's Taylor Frost. He helped the Grizzlies to a 24-6 overall record, an outright GVC title and a berth to the OSAA Class 6A state semifinals, where the Grizzlies fell to West Linn.

Brosius, who will pitch for Oregon State University next spring, was the only local winner in the 2015 Awards. Linfield softball pitcher Montana McNealy and Western Mennonite junior Emma Gibb, a McMinnville resident, were finalists for other awards.
