Sheridan Mud Drags coming Saturday

The Sheridan Mud Drags will be held this Saturday at the drag strip along S.W. Monroe Street in Sheridan, beginning at 10 a.m.

General admission to the event is $10, with children ages 6 and under allowed in for free. Spectators are encouraged to bring lawn chairs for comfort.

There will be side-by-side double-elimination racing for trophies and cash prizes, with eight different classes of racing. Kids will be invited to participate in a special foot race.

Parking along Monroe Street is available for $5 per car, with free parking and shuttle service available at Sheridan High School.


Mac girls basketball holds youth camp

The McMinnville girls basketball program will be running its annual girls basketball camp June 15-18.  The camp will place emphasis on fundamentals, instruction in individual and team offense and defense, and will hold competitive contests and games.  Registrations are being taken now. 

The camp will be run at Patton Middle School.  It is open to all girls entering first through 10th grade during the 2015-2016 school year. 

The camp for girls in grades 1-2 will run from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day. Cost is $40.

The camp for girls in grades 3-4 will run from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day. Cost is $50.

The camp for girls in grades 5-10 will run from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. each day. Cost is $60.

The camp will be directed by McMinnville girls basketball Coach Sean Coste, assistant coaches and former high school players as well as current members of the McMinnville girls basketball team.  Registration forms are available at McMinnville High School, Duniway Middle School, Patton Middle School and in take-home folders from all local elementary schools.. Forms may also be picked up at the McMinnville Community Center or contact coach Coste at McMinnville High School.


Linfield hosts football camp June 22-23

The Linfield College football coaching staff is hosting its annual Individual Football Clinic on June 22-23 at Maxwell Field on the Linfield college campus.

All high school-age athletes are welcome to attend, with enrollment limited to 14 players per position and 10 players at the quarterback position. Cost of attendance is $150, including a free T-shirt and two days of football instruction. Players should bring their own helmets, cleats and meals; the camp is non-contact and no pads will be worn.

Camp sessions occur from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. both days.

McMinnville Youth Cheer registration open

Registration is open for McMinnville Youth Cheer’s 2015-16 season until June 15 for boys and girls in grades three through eight. Annual registration is $150 plus uniform and monthly dues.

McMinnville volleyball youth camp Aug. 3-6

The McMinnville volleyball program is holding its annual youth camps for girls in grades 4-8 on August 3-6 at the red gymnasium at McMinnville High School.

Cost is $40 for girls in grades 4-6 and $50 for girls in grades 7-8. Sessions will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (grades 4-6) and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. (grades 7-8) each day.


Linfield women’s soccer hosts youth camp

Linfield’s women’s soccer program will host a soccer skills camp for boys and girls in grades 1-8 at the Linfield soccer field August 10-13.

First- through fifth-grade camp will be from 9 to11 a.m. each day, while grades six through eight will meet from 1-3 p.m. each day. Cost is $80, and all participants will receive a camp T-shirt. Participants can pre-register or register on the first day of camp.
