Grizzlies upset North Medford to advance
MEDFORD - McMinnville's charmed run through the OSAA Class 6A baseball tournament continues, this time with quite a flourish.
David Brosius and Kade Mechals combined to no-hit the No.2 seeded North Medford Black Tornado in Friday’s quarterfinals, lifting McMinnville to a 3-0 victory and a spot in the semi-finals. Brosius walked five but struck out four in his six-inning start, while Mechals needed just nine pitches to complete the seventh, earning the save with a one-walk performance.
Catcher Wyatt Smith was 2-for-4, both doubles, with a pair of RBIs in the win. McMinnville will visit No. 6 seed West Linn on Tuesday. Game time has yet to be set.

YAMHILL – The Tigers advanced to the Class 4A softball semifinals with a win over the visiting Hornets on Friday, their 20th consecutive victory.
Y-C (26-2) will head to Milton-Freewater on Tuesday to face No. 2 McLoughlin. First pitch at Yantis Park is set for 4:30 p.m.
Dayton 12, Echo/Stanfield 2 (5 inn.)
DAYTON – Rachael Fluke’s bases-loaded double in the fifth inning drove in three runs and gave the No.1 seed Dayton Pirates a walk-off win over the Cougars in their Class 3A softball quarterfinal.
Dayton (25-5) will host Pleasant Hill in Tuesday’s semifinal – game time has not yet been set.
