Perrydale bounced from TRC tournament

HALSEY – A 20-point second-half deficit against Class 2A Tri-River Conference foe Central Linn proved too much for Perrydale boys basketball to surmount.

The Pirates saw their first and only season in the Tri-River come to an end with a 54-49 loss to the Cobras in the TRC playoffs Wednesday night.

“The kids played their hearts out tonight,” Perrydale coach Mike Lowry said. “There was not enough left in the tank. It was one of those things where one kid kind of goes flat and they go on a little run.”

Chad Price (18 points) led three Pirates in double figures, as Troy Trembly scored 12 points and Haylen Janesofsky added 11 points. Brant Barnes scored six points for Perrydale.

Disean Hernandez led Central Linn with 17 points.

The Pirates end their season with a 10-14 overall record (5-9 TRC).

“I know they believe in their hearts that they could play Saturday and they could win,” Lowry said of his players. “They believed they could make a run in the state playoffs. These kids set really lofty goals for themselves but believed inside that they could achieve them. They don’t accept anything less. That’s what kids at Perrydale do.”
