Aardvarks spell end for Lady Pios, Dragons

PORTLAND – Oregon Episcopal School hosted quarterfinal matches in both the boys and girls soccer Class 3A/2A/1A state tournament Saturday afternoon. In both matches, an Aardvarks team that was ranked No. 1 in the state defeated a team from the Yamhill Valley to advance to the next round.

The OES girls scored in the third minute of the early game and hung one more to take a 2-0 win over the Western Mennonite Lady Pioneers, while the Aardvark boys pressured their guests, the Delphian Dragons, all through their match before finally breaking through just after the hour mark and held on to secure a 1-0 win.

The Dragons finished the season with a mark of 12-4-1, going 10-1-1 in boys soccer Special District 2 to win the district title. Western was 12-4-2 on the year, with a 10-0-2 record in girls Special District 3, also capturing a league championship.
