Can someone explain why he is allowed to resign vs being fired?
hikerboy
Resign???? How about a termination?
Spartan
TSMAP5 and hikerboy, likely because he has been charged but not convicted of anything yet. A school district would not want to be in the position of having terminated someone before they are actually convicted of a crime. Frankly, the resignation is much cleaner for everyone involved.

And resigning would appear far less sleazy and creepy when he applies for a new teaching position in another state! Talk about a win-win.
Rotwang
Non-attorney spokesperson here. Let's not forget the thing about innocent until proven guilty. Resignation in lieu of termination seems to present less liability for the school board.

Maybe we should hand him the key to the city.
Where is the outrage?
