Criminal collusion
The recent “negotiations” between the Trump administration and Putin remind me of the Hitler-Stalin Pact of August 23, 1939. The pact gave carte blanche authorization for the two countries to divide Poland between them along the line of the Narev, Vistula and San rivers.
Poland was not consulted. It was a transaction.
Both nations invaded within the month. Stalin got what he wanted, as did the Nazis, and Poland ceased to exist.
The net result? Six million Poles died in World War II, a fifth of the population.
Similarly, Trump has proposed allowing Putin to keep his war spoils — Ukraine territory — and take 50% of Ukraine’s minerals for the privilege of “ending” the war.
This is what is happening the name of the USA.
Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Nixon, Carter, Reagan — in fact, all late U.S. presidents of the 20th century — must be rolling over in their graves. This is a criminal proposal struck with a criminal state.
Think about how far we have fallen — to the point our nation is acting like Nazi Germany in the lead-up to World War II.
This is a stain on our national character that the world will not forget. It may take generations to redeem ourselves, and require another war.
Beware your bedfellows.

Farewell, nation we knew
I would like to propose a toast to the United States of America.
Here’s to a nation that was built on and continued to rely on immigration.
Here’s to a nation where the rule of law was respected.
Here’s to a nation where we protected the weak and underprivileged both here and around the world.
Here’s to a nation that built and maintained worldwide alliances to fight tyranny.
Here’s to a nation that valued freedom of the press and the attempt to disseminate the truth.
Farewell. It’s been nice knowing you.

Stu? This nation was built on legal immigration. And we ARE a nation of CITIZENS, not immigrants, and definitely not illegal migrants.
The last 4 years the rule of law was thrown out the window. A wide open border, while elected officials in charge lied to the American people violating the constitutional oath they swore to when taking office. The Biden DOJ was nothing more than the political hit men for the democrat party and they corrupted dealings.
Under the Biden regime sex trafficking, child sex trafficking, and human trafficking exploded across our wide open southern border. Mexican cartels and their Chinese partners raked in more cash in human trafficking than they ever thought possible with smuggling drugs. And that is protecting the weak and underprivileged? I won’t even discuss the democrat blood lust for abortion.
Ukraine is a money laundering racket where US politicians visit for photo ops and fly home with doufle bags full of cash. Zelenskyy, he is a dictator, by the way, now claims to have only seen $70 billion of the $200 billion or so we sent over.
And our vaunted press and their beleaguered attempts to disseminate the truth. The same press who knew that Joe Biden had dementia that kept him from functioning as president and they said nothing. Covered it up. This while the SECDEF disappeared with the nuclear codes and had electively surgery, didn’t tell anyone he was leaving. So the pudding Joe, Kamala, and a missing SECDEF was your nuclear football chain of command. And you all freaked out about Hegseth. But, kept right up with the Biden is sharp as a tack.
So all of YHAT STUFF! Good riddance.

The American people chose a fraud and convicted felon to be their president. What does this say about us? He’s doing absolutely nothing to protect us and lower the cost of living as he promised, and everything to turn America away from our allies and embracing a dictatorship in Russia. Even the Murdoch family is calling him out for his embrace of a dictator. The American people must now correct our mistake and take back our country from the broligarchs and billionaires. They will never own our power.

Yep – some voters chose a malignant narcissist who lied his way into power and has now declared himself king. At the same time it cannot be denied that his base actually believes what they post here (and elsewhere.) The devoted fans will continue to justify the indefensible and the rest of us can continue to hope (and strive) for a return to sanity and decency.

Gotta' love the political football game every 4 years.
On the one hand (right), the Rs were firmly convinced that Biden stole the 2020 election. Trump had made all sorts of accusations, even before the election, that the Ds were going to cheat, one way or another. And for 4 years, the Ds attempted to villainize Trump, so he would be a non-factor in 2024. All those attacks only proved to galvanize the Rs as well as the Ds in their respective stances. So 2024 began as a 'them against us', which was claimed by both sides of the aisle.
On the other hand (left), the Ds kicked Biden to the curb (July '24) and 'installed' (not elected) a DEI candidate that was clearly 'a deer in the headlights' when it came to explanations and ideas, or anything compelling. Other than 'joy', the Ds ran the campaign on 'Trump bad', as Harris declined to grant interviews unless they were on her terms and conditions (or with D friendly outlets). $2B later, there was no new message put forth. When Harris was asked what she would do different than Biden (on the View), her response of ' I can think of nothing I would change', was a monumental gaffe.
So 4 more years of 'weekend @ Bernie's' or Trump's harsh rhetoric? Both parties had set the bar very low, but that was the choice before the electorate. It was inevitable the losers would rant and bitch at any opportunity - as always, they haven't disappointed.
This dichotomy is directly the fault of both political parties attempting to divide the country, which in some ways they have succeeded.
Patrick Henry stated in 1799, 'United we stand, divided we fall'. The simple message here is be an American above all, especially when it comes to politics. In my opinion, that's the true path.

The Emperor has no clothes. And it took a mere child to mention that fact while the rest of you were busy fawning and bending over.

It's official. We're now the bad guys. We are one of just 16 countries that voted AGAINST a UN resolution condemning Russia for invading Ukraine. Our post-WWII alliances are now gone. One US Greek base was also just shut down by Trump.....more US bases will be closed in Europe soon.

It really shouldn’t be surprising that a draft dodger doesn’t have the necessary appreciation of the importance of the military and the role our allies play in defense of our nation. He has no concept of commitment, duty or honor, only money.
Moe
Remember Lulu, Hans Christian Andersen's tale ended as a cliff-hanger ...
The little child said: "But he hasn't got anything on!"
Did the naked emperor continue in the procession, the crowd too intimidated to believe its own eyes?
We don't know.
//
Sort of related, speculate as you will:
Recently Musk's boy was caught on a hot mike. Oval Office. Musk was standing there yacking. President Trump sitting at his desk, mostly listening. Boy walked over to Trump and told him to shut the "F" up; and that he (Trump) was not the President.
Musk isn't that bright. Certainly, not designing rockets, meanwhile running numerous huge companies and making billions - all on breaks between video games. He is a front man for controllers hiding in the shadows - the real source of those $billions.
Lulu
In point of fact, Moe, the story concludes: "Well, he hasn't got anything on!" the whole crowd was shouting at last; and the Emperor's flesh crept for it seemed to him they were right.
Yes, he kept going, but mortified because he realized the boy (and crowd) saw reality.
The crowd was in no way intimidated.
The left brain strikes yet again.
Moe
Wrong Lulu.
True, the crowd first whispered, then shouted what the child said, "But he hasn't got anything on!"
But we don't know whether the procession continued, the people acquiescing, the emperor maintaining his power. A timeless question.
Lulu
You might care to look it up. If you have a couple minutes to spare.
Moe
Well Lulu, we may both be right.
The emperor at first did intend to go on.
And the crowd was indeed shouting.
But did the procession go very far?
If so, did the crowd stop shouting?
There are different versions of the story. And different contexts in which it has been applied. In Diana West's "American Betrayal," she discusses the fairytale in the beginning of the first chapter. West and I have the same interpretation. Her reference is:
Hans Christian Andersen, "The Emperor's New Clothes," Hans Andersen's Fairytales: A new Translation by Reginold Spink (London: J.M. Dent& Sons, 1958), 79-81.

Pay attention Lulu:
"If you have a couple minutes to spare."
That should read: ... couple of minutes ...

I just opened my 2/28 edition of the paper and found it identical to the online paper I received on Wednesday, most of which was identical to the prior one. I thought I was paying for 3 "papers" and it appears I am paying for 3 and receiving 1.
Moe
Sounds like a case of Dewey, Cheatem & Howe.

Re the complaint posted above, I have a different perspective. I am deeply grateful for the N/R. Many local newspapers all across the country have gone dark while our hometown publication continues to serve our community. No small feat. Can’t say I have noticed IDENTICAL editions, but even if the N/R could only put out ONE edition per week, I would still be a grateful subscriber.
Re the gratuitous snark posted in response to the complaint, since we need a subscription to contribute to the comments, and “Moe” spends a massive amount of time exercising his/her freedom of “speech” here, it appears “Moe” is getting his/her money’s worth. How would that qualify as being cheated? (Rhetorical question, please spare me a response.)
CubFan
Judy, not to be argumentative, but I just compared both issues (Feb 26 and Feb 28) and they are most definitely DIFFERENT papers. We ARE receiving 3 different papers each week.
treefarmer... I, too, am a grateful subscriber. Without the NR, how would we get "news" about our community? I've come to rely on it to summarize what's happening in city and county meetings to help me stay informed.
treefarmer
Many thanks CubFan, the allegations were especially confusing given the fact that they were posted the day BEFORE the Friday edition was even available? I do hope our voices of support will counter the inappropriate negativity. We need to stay informed, we need the N/R!
