Benell B. Price Jr - 1944-2019

Benell B. "Jake" Price Jr. died at age 75 on October 13, 2019, at his home in Grants Pass, Oregon, surrounded by his family and close friends.

Jake was born February 24, 1944, in Napa, California, to Benell and Edna Price. He was raised in Cedarville, California. After high school, he joined the United States Air Force, serving four years. After his honorable discharge, he lived in Washington state before moving to Carlton, Oregon, in the 1970s to train horses, mostly gaited horses.

Jake married Shirley in 1984. Jake and Shirley eventually turned their farm into Equestrian Wine Tours. Due to illness, Jake turned the business over to his nephew Tyler until moving to Grants Pass in 2017.

Everyone who knew Jake knew what a happy and friendly person he was. He never met a stranger.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #3 in McMinnville, Oregon, since 1992 and was a 32nd degree Mason. His hobbies included riding horses, traveling and spending time with his family and animals.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Shirley Price of Grants Pass; son, Donald Price of Dayton, Oregon; three nephews who were like sons to Jake, Winston Odon of Grants Pass, Tyler Odom of Carlton, and Robinson Odom of San Jose, California; sister Barbara Heryford of Cedarville, California; brother Buddy LaRue Price of Susanville, California; mother-in-law Betty Hyatt of Grants Pass; sisters-in-law Judy Odom of Grants Pass and Bea Price of Susanville, California; brother-in-law Bill Heryford of Cedarville, California; numerous nieces and nephew; and three grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Edna Price; and a sister, Bonna Yticana.

Remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society. A celebration of life is pending.
