Fire damages Amity home

Two adults and a 6-month-old girl were staying at the residence, in addition to a dog. They all escaped safely. The American Red Cross is assisting the occupants.

The fire was reported by a neighbor about 8:30 p.m., according to Amity Fire Chief Bruce Hubbard.

The 1,200-square-foot structure, built in 1952 and renovated several times over the years, is owned by Dennis W. Coburn of McMinnville. He had it rented to a tenant who was out of state at the time. The occupants were watching the home.

Hubbard said the fire started on the front porch. He said the cause was undetermined.

The home suffered significant water damage and some fire damage, according to Hubbard.

Twenty-two firefighters responded with five pieces of equipment. McMinnville fire personnel covered the Amity station.
