Grand Ronde man dies in Highway 22 crash
GRAND RONDE -- Michael Tubbs, 62, died Monday morning when his car pulled out onto Highway 22 in front of another vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the 9:24 a.m. collision.
According to Oregon State Police, the Grand Ronde man was northbound on Grand Ronde Road. He stopped his 2003 Nissan Sentra at the Highway 22 intersection, then pulled onto the busy road in the path of an eastbound 1994 Honda Civic.
The Civic driver, Tyler R. Porter, 27, of Tillamook attempted to avoid the Nissan, troopers said. His car hit Tubbs' vehicle in the driver door.
Porter was taken to Willamette Valley Medical Center in McMinnville with non-life-threatening injuries.
Highway 22 was closed for four hours during the investigation. Traffic was detoured around the scene of the crash.
Yamhill County Sheriff's deputies, Grand Ronde Police, West Valley firefighters and ODOT also responded to the scene.

Many regular posters in our online forum may recall Michael Tubbs of Grand Ronde, who died Monday in a car crash.
Though he had not been active in the last couple of years, he was a heavy poster in this forum, off and on, for about 15 years. And he made no secret of his identity, often posting under his real name and/or sharing personal photos and details from his personal life.
I had dealings with him both in person and over the phone, in addition to following his online posts, so his passing struck me immediately. I felt it might be worth taking note here, as others will no doubt recall him as well.

I always enjoyed reading Mr Tubbs' comments. They were so bold and honest and straight from the heart. He were sometimes blunt and opinionated but you could always feel that underneath it all was a man with a good, kind heart. I'm really sad to hear of his passing. May he rest in peace.
