Linfield football
hosting Kids Day
First- through eighth-grade boys and girls are invited to the Linfield football program’s Kids Day on Wednesday, Aug. 26 at Maxwell Field on the Linfield campus.
The program will feature instructional drills with Wildcat players and coaches, dinner with the Linfield team and passing games. Cost is $15; registration takes place at 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 26, and the Kids Day runs from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m..

Mac Parks and Rec hosts adult coed sports
Get active this fall! Registration is open for Coed Volleyball and Coed Soccer (5-on-5).
Both leagues are open to adults over 18. Volleyball games are played at Duniway Middle School on Monday and Wednesday evenings. Soccer games are played at Joe Dancer Park on Sunday afternoons.

Registration deadlines are Sept. 5 for coed soccer and Sept. 9 for coed volleyball.
Mac Parks and Rec holds soccer sign-ups
Kindergarten through 6th-grade soccer players can register now for the McMinnville Parks and Recreation department’s fall soccer season.
Separate boys’ and girls’ leagues will be set up by grade. The fall season runs from Saturday, Sept. 19 to Saturday, Nov. 7. Games are played at Joe Dancer Park in McMinnville.
Kindergarten and first-graders will play 4-on-4, and 2nd- through 6th-graders will play 6-on-6. No preschool players. Registration deadline is Saturday, Aug. 29. See Ya Laters hosts Champions Run
The SeeYaLater Foundation will host the Champions Run For Heroes Saturday, Aug. 29 at Joe Dancer Park in McMinnville. Check-in for the 5K run/walk and 1/2-mile kids’ run will begin at 7 a.m., with the 5k to begin at 8 a.m. followed by the kids’ run at 9 a.m.
Early registration costs $25, while registration is available on race day for $30. All 5K registrants receive an event shirt, swag bag, snacks and drinks as well as prizes. Medals will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers as well as the top male and female finishers over age 48.
Any runner who can post a faster time than Brian Bernier will have their registration fee refunded (women will receive a two-minute handicap in this challenge). Registration for the kids’ run is $5 and 20 percent of all registration fees will be donated to the McMinnville Police Department, McMinnville Fire Department and Yamhill county Sheriff’s Office. Amity, Sheridan square off in fundraiser
Amity High School’s softball team and Sheridan High School’s boys basketball program will host the Inaugural Amity vs. Sheridan Golf Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 12 at Bayou Golf Course in McMinnville.
Play starts at 9 a.m. with a nine hole, two person scramble format and three divisions: Men, women and Co-Ed. An additional overall score will be tallied for each city; participants do not need to be residents of either Amity or Sheridan.
Registration is $35 and includes a barbecue lunch following the tournament.
