Japanese School graduates 7

Devin Frost, Payton James, Zack Monroe, John Myers, Mara Neel, Diego Rentsch and Wynton Skowrup received diplomas.

Neel and Rentsch were valedictorians and Monroe was the salutatorian. Neel was also named Student of the Year.

Executive Director Andrew Scott introduced the graduates and guest speaker — Gerald Turner, a former faculty member who had taught all the graduates.

Each graduate is going to college in the fall. Their destinations include Linfield College, the University of Oregon and out-of-state institutions.

Neel plans to enroll at Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois. Rentsch plans to attendLoyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. Monroe is headed to Whitworth College in Spokane, Washington.

Collectively, the graduates received about $750,000 in grants and scholarships.

Five of the seven graduates enrolled at the Japanese School as fourth-graders and attended all nine years.

They have all traveled to Japan or will do so this summer.
