'Cats clean out Pacific

MCMINNVILLE – The Wildcats wrapped up a four match homestand with another big win on Friday night, wiping out Pacific in straight sets, 25-18, 25-21 and 25-16 to bag their fifth Northwest Conference victory of the season and their third win in their last five games.

Each set was a back and forth battle before the Cats took over late each time with sharp serving and big time blocks in the middle of the floor.

“We have great serves, we catch a team off guard with our serves. That will put them out of sync and that will let us play defense,” defensive specialist Quinn Takashima explained. “Our middles are awesome. With their presence and their block, other teams aren’t able to pound the ball in there.”

The victory brings the Wildcats (6-6, 5-2 NWC) back to .500 on the season and pushes them over last year’s conference win total already. They’ll hit the road for Tacoma tomorrow to take on Puget Sound before returning home for matches on Oct. 15 and Oct. 18 against Willamette and George Fox, respectively. All three games are scheduled for 7 p.m.
