Dundee creamery's Chevre Honored

The Briar Rose Creamery’s classic chevre goat cheese has been honored as a finalist in the Good Food Awards. The finalists include 182 selected food products from 31 states, chosen from among 1,366 entries.

The top 100 will be anounced in a black-tie ceremony in San Francisco on Jan. 18. It will be followed by a Good Food Awards Marketplace, where winners offer their  products for sampling and purchase.

Oregon had 22 finalists this year, second only to California’s 43.

The Good Food Award press release said that the finalists rose to the top in blind tasting and showed the ability to clearly articulate how they fit the criteria of environmental and social responsibility.

“We are so excited that our chèvre is receiving such accolades,” said Briar Rose Cheesemaker Sarah Marcus.

The Dundee creamery was the only finalist in the Pacific Northwest in the cheese category. The same cheese recently won blue ribbon honors in the American Dairy Goat Association’s National Cheese Competition.
