Ballot Day
Ballots must be dropped off by 8 p.m. today at boxes, including the Clerk’s Office at Fourth and Evans in McMinnville, and city hall buildings throughout the county. Ballots will be counted if they are postmarked by today, Tuesday, Nov. 8. Anyone still planning to mail their ballot is advised to get the envelope hand-canceled at the post office counter. Otherwise, it likely will not be eligible for counting.
In all cases, make sure the ballot envelope is signed, and only by the voter submitting it.
Voter turnout stood at 33.1 percent, just over a third of all 75,462 registered voters, as of 10:30 a.m. Monday, according to interim county clerk Keri Hinton.
Hinton’s name is on the ballot for election, along with challenger Cory Fribley, as are Yamhill County Board of Commission candidates Kit Johnston and Beth Wytoski, both of Dayton.
The ballot also includes state House district races, U.S. Congressional District 6, and U.S. Senate, along with a variety of statewide and local ballot measures for most Yamhill County communities.
See newsregister.com for results and details posted as early as first ballot tabulations are released, at 8 p.m.
