Dayton man found dead of gunshot wound at McMinnville residence

An unidentified 35-year-old Dayton man died of a gunshot wound late Saturday night at a McMinnville residence, according to police.

Officers responded shortly before 11 p.m. to a reported shooting at the residence in the 1200 block of Northeast 10th Street. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene from a single gunshot wound.

Other occupants of the residence cooperated with the investigation and police are seeking no one else. There was never any danger to the public as a result of the incident.

As of press time, police had neither released the victim’s name, nor provided information on the nature of the shooting.

Part of the street was closed for investigation well into Sunday.

The Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office, District Attorney’s Office, Oregon State Police and Newberg-Dundee police assisted McMinnville police at the scene.
