Duniway student spurns ride offered by stranger

McMinnville police said a Duniway Middle School student refused to get into a stranger’s vehicle when contacted by an occupant of the car Friday afternoon outside the school. McMinnville police Capt. Dennis Marks gave this account:

The male student was waiting to be picked up after school when a car he didn’t recognize pulled up. He described it as a dirty green four-door sedan with tinted windows.

A white male said the boy’s mother had asked him to handle the pick-up for her. When the boy responded, “You’re lying,” the car took off.

Police Chief Matt Scales said no similar incidents had been reported elsewhere. He said it was being investigated as a suspicious circumstances case.

Anyone with information about the incident or car is asked to call McMinnville police at 503-434-7307.
