Needless tragedy for all involved.

This article left me a little confused. Who did they sue? The guy that is in prison?? I doubt he's got 250K to give to Abraham Hanson and his clients.

Joel . . .

Lawsuits were filed against Jeremy Hopper, driver of the at-fault vehicle.

. . . The lawsuits accused Hopper of failing to maintain a proper lookout, failing to maintain proper control of his vehicle, failing to operate the vehicle at a reasonable speed given the existing circumstances, failing to stop in time to avoid a collision with Claudio Martinez’s vehicle and failing to yield the right of way . . .

Drivers of both cars who were racing are serving prison time.
