Linfield’s Brasil competes at NCAA championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Linfield sophomore swimmer Victor Brasil competed in the men’s 100-meter and 200-meter breaststroke at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships Friday and Saturday but failed to qualify for the event final in either discipline.

Brasil, a native of Fortaleza, Brazil, finished 23rd overall in the 100 breast (56.43 seconds) and 32nd in the 200 breast (2:07.75) in his second consecutive appearance at the NCAA D-III championships.

 

Amity dance team places at state championships

PORTLAND – The Amity High School dance team finished seventh overall in the Class 4A/3A/2A/1A division at the OSAA State Dance & Drill Championships, held Friday and Saturday at Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Portland.

The Warrior Beat finished seventh in Friday’s 4A/3A/2A/1A qualifying rounds out of 13 teams to advance to the final, where it again finished seventh with a score of 70.22 points. Valley Catholic (91.44) was the event champion.

Newberg finished 21st out of 25 teams in the Class 6A division and did not advance to the finals.

 

Valley Panthers claim regular-season victory

TROUTDALE – The Valley Panthers Rugby Club, composed of girls from McMinnville and Yamhill-Carlton High Schools, defeated Reynolds 58-22 in the Panthers’ first game of the Rugby Oregon Girls Varsity Premiership season Saturday at Reynolds High School.

VPRC will participate in a tournament in Bonney Lake, Washington, on March 26-27.
