This could get expensive for a large order/big family, but I'd pay it. My favorite Chinese restaurants use styrofoam containers for leftovers and I feel terrible throwing it away.

I believe on January 1, 2025 a state law will go into effect banning styrofoam containers. Restaurants will need to pivot to something more ecologically friendly.

We reuse cleaned takeout containers for leftovers at restaurants. The pandemic left us with a stash of containers which we are slowly wearing out, then recycling them.
For fast food joints, we have a bag with napkins, straws and plastic utensils.
