Two 'No Kings' rallies scheduled in county

Local activists and their nationwide counterparts are calling for Saturday, June 14, to be a “national day of defiance” against Donald Trump, timed during his 79th birthday.

Nonprofit Indivisible and other coalition groups planned the rallies as a “peaceful stand against authoritarian overreach,” and abuses of power from the Trump administration, according nokings.org.

Two of the estimated 1,800 rallies across the country will be in Yamhill County, promoted by local activist group Progressive Yamhill. A Newberg rally will be at East Portland Road and South River Street. The McMinnville rally will be outside the McMinnville Library on Second Street. Both will be from noon to 2 p.m.

Through the No Kings website, individuals and groups sign up to host rallies and get posted to a national map.

A military parade is scheduled in Washington, D.C., on Saturday, which is also Flag Day, in honor of the U.S. Army’s 250th birthday. The event is scheduled to display several historical tanks, aircraft and service members in U.S. military uniforms from many eras.

“On June 14 — Flag Day — President Trump wants tanks in the street and a made-for-TV display of dominance for his birthday,” organizers wrote on the No Kings website. “A spectacle meant to look like strength. But real power isn’t staged in Washington. It rises up everywhere else.”

The No Kings organizers do not plan to hold a rally in D.C., but rather to have a prime rally in Philadelphia and rallies all across the country in unity.

We need to ignore trump’s spectacle.

All he cares about are ratings.

Let’s give him very low ones.

I wonder when these same people will line the streets in protest of the ridiculous over-taxation by ODOT, 37% increase in gas tax, 300% increase in wage taxes for transit payroll, DMV a 62% increase, car registration fees nearly triple, drivers test fee nearly triples, license plate fees nearly triple, new car taxes, used car taxes. And the charge oto delivery vehicles will directly be passed on to us as consumers, I have seen this first hand. I wonder, have these “protesters” had triple increases in their wages? Nope, instead they will protest a president who is trying to make our country safer, and cut back on wasteful spending so necessary programs can be adequately funded. This world makes no sense.

So going to the No Kings website, in the first sentence the claim is made that “they” (whoever that is) have deported Americans. How can you deport an American? If they are Americans, they will be deported to America.

Loretta,
You are not going to see these people protesting those items until George Soros pours money into groups like Indivisible (i.e., Progressive Yamhill and Oregon Democratic party), also ties with Antifa (they all tie to Antifa), MoveOn.org, and Act Blue. the Chinese Communist Party through funding groups like CHIRLA. That money will start the propaganda machine that feeds national, state, and LOCAL media to push the preferred narrative.

These are not grassroots; sure, some people show up because they care about the topics, but they are bankrolled by people who want to see the United States destroyed.

Many of the comments above show me that many people in this town believed all of Trump's lies and still do. They can't see that we are slowly losing our democracy and now have an authoritarian government. They are arresting illegal immigrant criminals (like they said they would) but are also arresting illegal immigrant law abiding people, raising families and contributing to our economy. No one in McMinnville seems to understand that or appreciate it.

Loretta... you are spot on! The Oregon democrats have the majority in both the senate and house, and we taxpayers will be the beneficiaries of their heavy handed legislation. There isn't a tax or fee they don't like.
