Finally ! What a novel idea, the trades. People have forgotten a long time ago what built America.
So many worthless degrees have been obtained over the last 20 years to produce nothing. Maybe I shouldn’t say produce nothing. I wonder how good it pays to hold a flag or a protest sign? Or suck up a free student loan.

Ron

I do need to be fair. I’m sorry for a second post. We do need the engineers designers etc. but once it leaves their desks somebody needs to be able to build it.

Bleepbloop

Yes, trade jobs need to be emphasized as viable careers. Yes, some degrees are not 100% useful to society (but maybe it is to the person pursuing it). But Ron, you are one ignorant person casting broad generalizations. I mean, who needs teachers, nurses, accountants, social workers, scientists…….

I always find it interesting when student loan forgiveness is questioned, yet the federal government can bail out giant corporate banks, saving & loans, airlines, auto manufacturers (and others) and nobody seems to care. Corporate leaders suffer no legal ramifications, keep their salaries & bonuses & share holders suffer very little. I guess government help for individual tax payers is where the line of outrage is drawn.

Lulu

Yes, true. And beware when you, the public, are referred to as shareholders or stockholders: both terms actually mean: "Empty your wallets."
I would be happy to sell my shares, at half price even.

Ron

Good morning Bleepbloop thanks for the insult.
I can always depend on three of you people to land on me with both feet.It was a simple comment from me, Praising the trades, but you can’t do that nowadays without insults from people like you. I even admitted in a second post that not every degree was worthless, but you found a way to jump in on that also. Kind of amazing actually. Was I supposed to tell you every single degree that is useful. I had a lot of people work for me running a machine which I could easily train a high school age person to run for free, which I have done. Those degrees those people had were worthless. Point being People with a degree and nowhere to go with it. Is that a waste? Not in your mind obviously. You’re a troublemaker that’s why the country is turmoil . Like tagup and the student loan thing so argue all you want and team up on me. I paid off a cars I paid off a houses and most importantly, I paid student loans not my daddy not my mommy and not the taxpayers. but that’s not an acceptable way to do things nowadays. You go ahead and praise people that milk the system and think everything should be free paid for with other people‘s money . You are the ignorant one. Enjoy your day I’ll sleep just fine knowing you’re spending all your waking hours waiting for the next comment to argue. What a life.

Chamomile tea works great.

“The trades are the backbone of our nation.”

Amen to that. I have great respect for doctors and scientists and many other dedicated professionals but the foundation of their work is built and maintained by tradesmen and women who make it all possible - from the buildings that house them (and us) to the roads that get us to our homes and offices. Where would we be without our plumbers and electricians and mechanics, and maintenance folks, and and and.......?

I am a big fan of Mike Rowe. He honors and generously supports our invaluable trades professionals. I do too. Kudos to the Blue Collar Tour!!
