This is what happens when we play politics with science. We end up with people who don't understand the data, or what clinical trials are, or really how any of it works, trying to incite panic for their own political gain. The figures they should be paying attention to are the number of unvaccinated people suffering serious illness and death. Those are the citizens who are dying, and they're also Starrett's and Berschauer's voters.

Exactly

madmacs

B&S, one should not wear one's ignorance as a badge.

Anybody who has any questions or concerns about the Covid vaccine or any other vaccine should talk to their DOCTOR, period. End of discussion.

Russ

More than 180 million doses of the Pfizer vaccine and 133 million doses of Moderna’s version have been administered. 'Nuff said about their safety. "Drs." Starrett and Berschauer are nincompoops.

aesquire

Starrett and Berschauer continue to embarrass this county with their cynical, dangerous ignorance.

I'm waiting for the NR headline "Starett and Berschauer Proclaim "Reality is Whatever We Say It Is!"."

Mary Starrett's posterior: Yamhill County's most trusted source of medical information.

This is what happens when insane people are elected.

Here we go again! For Mary Starrett and Linda Berschauer to continue to advocate against the use of a vaccine that has helped us get back to a semblance of normal boggles ones mind. Certainly the science and data are clear, vaccines saves lives and allow us to get back to work and activities we love. These two commissioners only cause more harm to their constituents. Shame on them. Please read multiple sources of information and make your informed choice. I highly recommend NOT listening to these two when making health care choices. It could cost you your life.

David S. Wall

Shouldn't the Commissioners be concerned with; homelessness, protection of farm lands from encroaching development, county road repair, wildfire prevention and suppression, potable water shortages, and a looming landfill closure?

Have Commissioners Berschauer and Starrett been vaccinated?

If so, maybe they're living testimony of adverse side-effects of the vaccine as demonstrated by their continuous poor decision-making on recent issues.

If not, they're doing a good job dodging the very infectious and dangerous delta-variant of COVID. (I sure hope they're wearing their masks and using copious amounts of hand-sanitizers.)

Commissioner Starrett's public harassing and demeaning conduct of County officials and reliance on ill-informed vaccine advice from a witchdoctor should concern everyone.

Something above 3 billion doses have been given worldwide. No evidence of any concerning side effects. This is surely the largest clinical trial in the history of clinical trials! But sure, I suppose a local naturopath would know better...

@carolsm ON what planet do you live? First, let me say that I do not think the BOC should be weighing in on vaccine safety, but for to say there are no side effects is a complete falsehood. Have yoy heard of the blood clots associated with messenger rna vaccines? or the FDA's decision to require warning labels due to the potential of heart issues? If you follow the news, there is no question that there are side effects but the risk of not being vaccinated is greater than the side effects. Sounds good, but if I'm a 30 year old seems like my risk of dying pf Covid-19 are slim.

Starret and Berschauer are idiots, enough said.

carolsm

Bill B: The two most concerning recent side effects have been blood clots and heart problems. If you look at the incidence of those two events in the general population, before the vaccine even started being administered, the numbers were statistically the same. That says the vaccine is unlikely to be the cause.

As a 30-year-old, you are correct that your likelihood of dying from Covid are slim. However, do you have no concern at all for your grandmother, who you might give it to if you have it asymptomatically and unknowingly, or the supermarket checker with an immuno-compromised kid at home? You do not live by yourself on this planet (yes, the the one I too live on, per your question), your behavior affects other people. Enough unvaccinated people will insure that this pandemic never gets under control.

Berschauer should resign. Whoever she's serving and whoever is paying her bills it isn't the citizens of Yamhill County.
