Stabbing suspect arrested; male victim 'serious but stable'

McMinnville police have detained a suspect in a Friday afternoon stabbing at the McMinnville Public Library.

A library patron was taken to the hospital following the 3 p.m. incident on the second floor of the library. The adult male victim later was transferred to the Oregon Health & Science University hospital in Portland, where he is listed in serious but stable condition.

There is no danger to the public, police said. The library is open regular hours, staff members said.

Officers  took Jose Nicholo Dominguez, also known as Nico, into custody about 3:45 p.m. after searching the area of the library, City Park and West Second Street.

The 19-year-old suspect was located near the 7-11 on Southwest Baker Street, across from Linfield College. He was detained without further incident, police said.

He was booked into Yamhill County Jail on charges of first-degree assault.

The case remains under investigation. Anyone with information about the incident should contact Sgt. Steve Macartney at 503-435-5622 or Steve.Macartney@mcminnvilleoregon.gov

Christmas has Talons

Nice safe place for our kids to go. Thanks City Council and Sal Peralta for nothing.

Now the tax payers get to pay to take care of both these Perps. One's medical billing and the other for the rest of his life. Where's Judge Roy Bean when we need him?

GRM

why do we need Roy Bean when we have you ? You've judged the case already while the police is still looking for details.

Is Jose Nicholo Dominguez American or a foreign National here illegally ?

Lulu

No doubt from California.

Hopefully the police will release some details that will help the community sort through and understand what happened. I can imagine many are now wondering whether or not the library is a safe place to be.

I can say with confidence I sure didn’t feel safe living in McMinnville. The Juventino Bermudez Arenas incident where the liberals of McMinnville were more concerned about what the police did to that illegal alien than the fact that the illegal alien murdered a Linfield College student didn’t sit well with me. And the “last straw” for me came when I had been in Carlton and on the way back pulled off the side of the road by the car dealership by Wilco to let my nine month old puppy take a pee and got rushed by three pit bulls from one of the many dilapidated RVs. I had to pick Buddy up and hold him high up as I could and thought I would be mauled to death! And when I went to complain to the cop shop the next day they would not even take my report. I felt so strongly I broke lease and was OUT in less than a week and moved to an apartment in Newberg. I grew up in this county and have also lived in Portland Beaverton and Salem. McMinnville is definitely not the nice bucolic farming town of my youth and the socialists in that town (mostly Californians like that weirdo who tried to run for congressman) are so tolerant of lawlessness, enabling vagrancy, etc. I wouldn’t live in McMinnville if someone paid me to. It’s become Portland junior and getting worse by the day ! So yes I think it’s a fair question what is the immigration status of this person? BTW I am also requesting a report from my Senator how many car crashes in Yamhill County over the last ten years from folks who have no license and are non US citizens.

What does that mean--"no danger to the public"--? That statement is no reassurance. People need to know the circumstances behind this attack. Now.
