From the article -- The month (December) finished with just 6 inches of rain for the month, 2.7 inches below normal.

Nicole -- I cannot find any historical publication that claims Dec. rainfall averages over 8.5 inches -- more like 6+.

Pete Parsons doesn't actually predict anything without some sort of hedging on his part -- 'it's going to be dry (spring), but May might be wetter -- June may be drier, or may be wetter in the first half'. Pretty much covers anything, wouldn't you say?

The Groundhog in Punxsutawney is at least definite. He predicted a longer winter (for his region), which is still occurring. And his record is better than most human forecasts, which must say something.
