Is a Facebook spat really worthy of front-page coverage?
But regardless, First Amendment, anyone? The Government (the city) cannot enforce standards for the speech of any of us; it is flatly unconstitutional. I wonder if those decrying "divisive rhetoric" from local leaders (this includes Mayor Morris) have ever looked at former Dundee Mayor and perennial congressional candidate DL Russ's personal FB page or his aggressive conspiratorial page "It's All Your Backyard"? That is the pinnacle of political divisiveness (and unhinged content). Or former commissioner Berschauer's, for that matter...

Peralta spoke the truth. We'd better recognize that or admit we're taken in by the Nazi/KKK maga message. It would have been better if the shooter had chosen to demonstrate against Kirk outside the area, but he was probably afraid of violent retribution by the far right crowd or Kirk's guards. Rather diabolical, isn't it?

Sal Peralta need not apologize for anything he wrote. All this manufactured mass hysteria for some rude, mean-spirited, divisive personality is unjustified.

I’d never heard of Charlie Kirk before he was shot and killed. To me the point of the article was that Mr. Peralta’s statement clearly showed personal opinions that seem to mimic what our nations liberal leaders have been saying. He was elected to represent the MAJORITY of McMinnvillian’s, not just economically challenged liberals. But if you review his voting record you will see that he has mostly voted in lockstep with our equally economically challenged mayor and city manager.

His highly biased personal feelings are a non-issue with me. But his city council voting record is a huge issue. His votes over the last 5-6 years. He clearly did not have the best interests of the majority of citizens in mind when he voted in support of purchasing RB Rubber property, splitting the fire department, etc. his biased city council voting record is why I think he should resign or be recalled.
