MHS receives apparent 'swatting' false call; police on scene to assure safe release of students

McMinnville police are on the scene at McMinnville High School to assure the safe release of students after the school received a "swatting" false report this afternoon. The report was not real; there was no actual threat, according to the school district.

The district is sending a reassuring message to parents, as well.

Students are leaving the building at the regular dismissal time. Parents can pick them up as usual.

Swatting is a type of false report designed to draw first-responders to a scene. Today's call came on the heels of a school shooting in Georgia on Wednesday that put people on high alert across the nation.
