Thank you Adam Garvin for standing your ground. It DOES sound over-reaching and like "HOA" rules to me as well. Why would the city council not ask the public to weigh in?

I think if you read the new chapter revisions and the staff report you may have a better picture. Because of prevailing legal opinion from the state Attorney General some of the authority available to the city to enforce code compliance was removed. The revisions add language to the municipal code restoring that legal authority and providing a statutory framework for continuing the same code enforcement as before.
