Wow! I haven't heard this much sense come from a republican at the county level in probably a decade or more. Unfortunately most of the right wing voters want to hear all the rhetoric that they really have no control of...such as gun rights, critical race theory, anti vax and most importantly masks (it seems).
This line I don't entirely agree with: “Every farmer in this county’s got broken equipment, I can tell you, and most of them don’t have a good place to get it fixed,”
I believe most local farmers could employ competent mechanics if they paid them fairly compared to what other non farmer employers do...including overtime. I agree there are not enough skilled tradesmen but why would they work for a farmer for wages below the going rate. There's too much work out there.
