I'm really glad we have her as one of our elected leaders. She's a true class act. Very genuine person.

What’s her position on the last presidential election? Will she state the election wasn’t stolen?

Joel R

Tag, What on earth has that got to do with anything? Time to move on from all of that nonsense.

Megmaa

Hmmmm. Her answers and current positions will move me to watch her performance more closely. We need new faces and voices taking up the baton to help in bridging the gap on quickly changing social change from all corners.

Truth over politics, Joel. It’s an easy question that will likely go unanswered.

Joel R

Is there anyone (other than Donald Trump) in America who thinks the last election was stolen? It wasn't "stolen" according to the several different judges that heard all of the legal arguments regarding the alleged shenanigans that were going on. That's good enough for me. Good grief Tag, that's so yesterday. We have so many other important things to be focused on right now. Time to move on. If you don't like any current republican office holders, find good candidates that you do like and do all that you can to get them elected. But please don't go around throwing out some weird gotcha question to every elected officer that you don't like or don't agree with.

Joel-I appreciate your position on the matter, but you said she was genuine. Well?
Given the facts, It’s only a gotcha question if a person won’t state the truth. Honest Leadership demands straight answers.

RobsNewsRegister

Lol, this from the political side that pushed the Trump-Russia Collusion Delusion to discredit the 2016 election for years. I agree with Joel. It's time to move on and focus on the future. Hopefully the people in Washington and their media allies grow up and focus on the important issues rather than push conspiracy theories after they lose an election. There is a lot for America to sort out. 32 trillion-dollar debt with 2 trillion deficits, impending banking crisis (this time from commercial real estate), risk of world war in both Europe and Asia, the list goes on.

I see the news register doesn't want us to know what party this rep is as it is not mentioned once in the article. Just shows the partiality of the news paper and their editors. They didn't bother to say if she was or wasn't one of the walkouts just saying she praised them. I vote for people that show up and fight for change not people that don't get their way and go hide.

I believe it was the OR Senate that staged the walk out…Ms Elmer is a Representative for Dist 24.

Rds:
Why would the News-Register want to hide her party affiliation? She is, of course, a Republican, AS THE STORY NOTED TWICE.
The reporter noted high up her response to the walkout "her colleagues" staged in the Senate. Subsequently, it referred to her as "a member of the minority party."
It seems to go without saying that the Republican Party is in the minority in Salem, and that its frustration with that led it to once again stage a walkout this session. It was over on the Senate side and ran 41 days.
Anyone misled about Elmer's party affiliation hasn't been paying much attention. Republicans have held the seat continuously for decades now.
