So the sheriff endorses a sitting commissioner and then this happens: "Late-breaking changes to the budget included adding spending authority for grants the Sheriff’s Department hopes to receive". Maybe there is some quid pro quo, maybe not. Either way, this is the reason the sheriff should have stayed away from the politics. I know that I trust the Sheriff's Department less than I used to.

Declining testimony from department heads is so they can continue to say that things like "no services were impacted" and keep peddling that false narrative. If they had statements on the record from people who know better, they would have to tell the truth or claim their staff are lying (which would shock pretty much nobody anyway, I suppose).
